Unreal Engine 5 Release Trailer and Information
Unreal Engine 5, which was revealed on the 5th of April, has been making waves with its incredible graphic showcase and added features, such as Lumen, which makes it so that developers won't have to author lightmaps UVs and wait for them to bake at all, as what they'll see inside the Unreal Editor is what they'll get. And if that isn't impressive enough, there's also Nanite, a virtualised micropolygon geometry system, which allows to directly import and replicate multi-million-polygon meshes whilst maintaining a real-time frame rate without any noticeable losses.

Epic Games has included two play tests to experience Unreal Engine 5 first hand: Lyra Starter Game, which is meant to be a starting point for creating new games and getting some hands-on experience with the engine, and City Sample, which bolsters a complete city including the Epic Games' MetaHuman characters. The City Sample also showcases how the scene from The Matrix Awakens: An Unreal Engine 5 Experience was created.

For those interested in trying the samples out, they're available on the Unreal Engine 5 website. Check out which studios have already begun development with the latest engine right here! As for the release itself, we have the full Unreal Engine 5 release presentation right here at GameGrin.
