Valve Continues Rehauling Storefront — This Time, Steam's Store Pages Have Gotten Bigger
2025 has been, quite frankly, a VERY active year for Valve regarding all sorts of overhauls for Steam. Whether this is in the form of new recording software, better accessibility information, or even an overall rehauled front page, it has seen changes aplenty throughout.
Now that shopping has been modernised a bit, bidding farewell to the forum-like look that Steam has donned for so many years, the team has moved on to look at store pages next. Notably (and perhaps strangely at first), how wide they are, and how much of your screen they take up.
With the latest Steam update, the platform has now since changed the size of the information, and how much of your screen it takes up, from 940 pixels to 1200 pixels, making everything almost 30% bigger. While it sounds a bit strange on paper, it lets more information sit on the screen more comfortably, taking up more space of the 4k resolution monitors horizontally (though the vertical visibility took a bit of a hit).

Wider stores did take the limelight of the latest update, but that isn't all that arrived, as a new user interface has been incorporated whenever interacting with the images and trailers. This is a fix that makes it more comfortable to browse through things in full-screen mode and a new theatre mode that's neater without taking up too much space.
Here are the two additions:
- A new theatre mode that pops out the image to share higher-resolution images or trailers. You can browse through these, and they'll stay confined to the Steam client or window.
- A full-screen mode carousel that lets you swipe through the images and trailers at will.
With this update, the Steam store page will also feature a bit more colour from the game's art in the background (the blurred section you can barely see) and more robust description options for the developers to play along with. This includes better high-quality images, more interesting formatting, and more that we'll be able to see as more developers get hands-on with the systems!
For those who are concerned about the width of the screen being smaller than 1200 pixels, Steam's got you covered. The store page and browser should adjust to your client's windows — they went as far as trying it on various tablets, Steam Decks, mobile devices... and even an iPod, for some reason... But it still worked!
This update is live now.
