Valve Reveals Top 20 Games of April on Steam
In a blog post published on 23rd April 2019, Valve reveals the 20 top-selling games that were released in April. The list ranges from games such as the triple-A game Mortal Kombat 11 to the indie game Totally Accurate Battle Simulator. See the full list below which is arranged by release dates:
- Totally Accurate Battlegrounds
- SUPER DRAGON BALL HEROES WORLD MISSION
- ISLANDERS
- MarZ: Tactical Base Defense
- Supraland
- Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy
- Vacation Simulator
- Zanki Zero: Last Beginning
- Pathway
- Weedcraft Inc
- Staxel
- One Finger Death Punch 2
- Forager
- Pagan Online
- Katana ZERO
- Driftland: The Magic Revival
- Paper Dolls Original
- Mortal Kombat 11
- Imperator: Rome
- MORDHAU
“To generate this list, we started by enumerating all the games released between 1st April to 30th April ,” Valve explained in the blog post. “We then looked at revenue earned by each of those games in the first two weeks following that game's release. From that list, we took the top 20 games by revenue to make our final list. Finally, we sorted the 20 games by release date.”
While Valve states the this is “something new” they wish to try, it is believed that this could be in response to rising competition of new online PC game stores such as the newly launched Epic Game Store which may seem more attractive to developers as Epic Game Store only takes a 12% cut of the sales whereas Valve will take 30%. Epic Games also have been signing exclusive deals with developers of both indie and triple-A games to keep games only on the Epic Game Store. However, the Epic Game Store is still struggling to gain momentum even as they launched their Epic Mega Sale.

Good to see Ace Attorney so high on the list.
