VILE: Exhumed Has Been Delayed... But Not For The Reasons You Think
Final Girl Games and DreadXP were looking to bring the graphic VILE: Exhumed, a title that has you browsing through a computer in order to find out what happened to Candy Corpse. Set to launch on the 22nd of July, the team has been forced to delay the launch, but it may not be for the reasons you're accustomed to.
If you're unfamiliar with the title, it's essentially an OS-searching game where you'll be going through an old computer snooping through photos, messages, e-mails, and more to find information about the actress. While it's not an unexplored genre, VILE: Exhumed explores themes that are considered dark — maybe even too dark for some audiences.
Historically, Steam has been a bit of a difficult platform to work with when it comes to dealing with some topics, and Final Girl Games' title may just hit many of those specific tags. At the bottom of the store page for the game, you'll find the "Mature Content Description", which reads that it contains sexual content, violence, and abusive and harmful language.
While it's nothing unheard of, and there have been many a title with aggressive gore, Steam has historically caused issues for developers who wish to upload games with themes that may be seen as touchy or controversial. While VILE: Exhumed has not been denied by Valve, the current build of the game has been in review for about a month, and the team has realised that the 22nd of July window is going to be a tad unrealistic given the timeframe.
As such, VILE: Exhumed has been delayed until further notice. The team is set to release it to the public as soon as possible, but we do not know exactly when and what caveats Steam might come up with when they finish the review of the build.
