Vive Launch Line-Up Unveiled Along With UK Price

HTC and Valve have announced the full details of exactly what customers buying the Vive VR headset at launch will be getting. We've already seen the device itself and heard the US pricing, but until now we haven't seen a confirmed UK price or details of the bundle of games.

The device, which goes on pre-order at 15.00 today ahead of its 5th April launch, will cost £689 in this country. For that price, you get the headset itself, two wireless controllers, room scale movement sensors and three VR titles:

  • Tilt Brush, by Google: Paint in 3D space with virtual reality. Unleash your creativity with three-dimensional brush strokes, stars, light, and even fire. Your room is your canvas. Your palette is your imagination. The possibilities are endless.
  • Job Simulator: The 2050 Archives, by Owlchemy Labs: In a firmly tongue-in-cheek world where robots have replaced all human jobs, step into the ‘Job Simulator’ to learn what it was like 'to job'.
  • Fantastic Contraption, by Northway Games in collaboration with Radial Games: Imagine walking around a grassy island floating in the sky, building a machine the size of a horse with your own hands, and then watching it roll out into the world.

Enabling you to stay connected to the real world, without exiting the virtual world, the consumer edition also includes Vive Phone Services – demonstrating the ability to combine both realities without losing touch of either. By allowing you to receive and respond to both incoming and missed calls, get text messages and send quick replies. You can also check upcoming calendar invites directly through the headset. I mean, you could take the headset off we suppose, but when you've spent that much on a device, you'll probably want to get your money's worth and never take it off.
