War Thunder 1.53 Firestorm Update Is Out

Gaijin Entertainment has released the 1.53 Firestorm update for War Thunder, with a lot of content updates and a new game engine (Dagor 4.0) under the hood.

First up, the usual lineup of new vehicles are available, from the first set of British premium tanks (the normal tree will follow in a later update). The set of 4 features the Churchill, Sherman Firefly, A13 Cruiser tank, and the M10 'Achilles'.

The Firestorm update also brings three new rocket tanks to create a literal firestorm in Ground Forces tank battles, with each of the three current tank nations receiving a premium tank with rockets.

Other notable vehicle updates include the Hawker Hunter as the new end-game jet for the British plane lineup, as well as a whole new range of P-38 Lightnings for the US, and lots more.

Under the hood, there's an overhaul to the game's engine, which brings added realism to the rendering of the maps and vehicles. The effects in Ground Forces is especially spectacular with new destructible environments being added, as well as enhanced lighting effects being introduced along with Nvidia's Waveworks technology.

There's a host of other new updates and tweaks, as well as new maps to do battles in. The Crossing of the Rhine, featuring the famous Cologne Cathedral, and Stalingrad, modeled on real photographs of the Stalingrad tractor plant district are new urban maps for players to do battles in.
