Why Crowdfund When You Can Crowdinvest with EquityArcade?

Why Crowdfund When You Can Crowdinvest with EquityArcade?

Disclaimer: GameGrin are not in any way financial advisors; some of us still have trouble remembering the PIN for our debit cards and at least one of the team still uses postal orders. Don’t treat any of this as financial advice and consult a real expert before investing to ensure you don’t end up losing all your money.

With crowdfunding being all the rage these days, many people are starting to question what is in it for them. £150 for a game with a free t-shirt and a mug just doesn’t seem as attractive as it did when the idea was new, and this is where EquityArcade come in.

EquityArcade aren’t a crowdfunding platform, but a crowdinvesting platform. The principle is the same, but instead of funding to help a game get made and maybe nab yourself a copy or some merch, you will be investing your money in the game with the promise of return on investment if it is a financial success.

”We are creating a 21st century investment experience where the general public and gamers worldwide can actually invest in the next generation of games and gaming companies” said Aaron Kaplan, CEO/Founder of EquityArcade. “Millennials and centennials tend to avoid the stock market. Wall Street is generally foreign to most Americans. We are providing a tool by which anyone can invest in a multi-billion dollar industry.”

Damsel

Damsel Productions' eponymous title Damsel is one of the first games on the platform.

EquityArcade’s very first offerings are live and open to investment. Damsel, a 2D action platformer set in a beautifully detailed cartoon world, merges fast-paced gameplay with strong narrative elements to create a deeply engaging experience.

“It’s difficult for a smaller studio to raise funds. EquityArcade gives us the opportunity to raise the capital we need to finish our game, while reaching a new audience who believes in our game enough to want equity in the project,” said Megan Summers, Director, Damsel Productions, LLC. “It’s a win-win for gamers and the game we all stand behind.”

Damsel is currently raising up to $100,000 in exchange for 30% of revenue generated, split between the investors who provide that money. That investment could be anything from $25 upwards, with higher amounts giving a potential higher cut of revenue in return for the higher risk.
