Why You Won't be Seeing Nintendo Switch Skins Any Time Soon
Nintendo's latest console comes in either black or a bright red and blue affair. Now, for a lot of us, those colours are fine, after all, most AV hardware tends to be black anyway, right? But a lot of companies have made it their business to create decals, skins, stickers, and other such coatings for consoles, to give people the option to personalise it. Dbrand are one such company, and are regarded by many as one of the best.
Sadly, Nintendo Switch decals aren't a thing that we can expect to see in the near future, after the aforementioned market-leaders discovered an issue with the console. It would appear that the coating applied to both the console and the Joycons does not co-exist well with any kind of adhesive.
The company took to their Twitter account to details their findings:
@dbrand After removing the skin, it was obvious that the coating on the JoyCons do not play well with any kind of adhesive... (4/6) pic.twitter.com/m8kDluuTOX

@dbrand Unfortunately, the same holds true for the Console... (5/6) pic.twitter.com/fAIEDLmqfx

Because of this, the company have decided to pull Switch skins from their store, with anybody who pre-ordered being given a full refund by the company. It's a shame, because the carbon fibre Switch skin that was showing in their twitter feed looked awesome on a Joycon, but nobody wants to make their console look good at the expense of ruining it so props to Dbrand for doing the right thing.
