Code of Honor 2 - Conspiracy Island Review

Code of Honor 2 - Conspiracy Island isn't a title that I had heard of until today. I looked at the manual and thought that this game may have some potential. But in the first 5 minutes of playing, I soon thought, "how long it will take me to hurry up and complete the game?". My answer? Two hours.

"Short" isn't a term that I have used in any of my reviews to date, but it could most certainly be used in this instance. Before I rant about the length of this game, I may as well talk about the storyline, as well as a few other things. You play as Sergeant Boulet on an island which has a nuclear power plant on it. Terrorists from the 'Global Revolutionary Front' plan to take over the plant and use some of the Uranium to make a dirty bomb. As well as yourself, you have radio intel to guide you and two other teammates that help you fight. The Island is inhabited by the French, you are French and the terrorists are also French.

The gameplay when compared to other first person shooters is mediocre at best. You have the standard right click to aim, left click to shoot, but the controls seem very clumsy. Some of the guns you use such as the MP5 don't actually fire unless you hold the trigger down for half a second. Most of the guns don't have any recoil so realism lacks there, and I never knew that a FAMAS could be turned into a Sniper Rifle by attaching a different scope. Movement in the game is simple and includes a run feature (which is more like a jog) similar to Call of Duty 4. This doesn't mean the game is any comparison to COD in the slightest. In this case, they are both FPS's that coincidently both have a sprint feature that is bound to 'Shift'.

Instead of being able to carry 2 grenades (like in a popular first person shooter), you are able to wield up to 20. You are also able to wield 4 different types of gun. None of them have to be pistols, although for some reason you have to keep a FAMAS in your inventory. These ideas really don't help the game in terms of realism, but then again, not all games should be focussed on realism. Take a look at FIFA for example. That game is nothing like real football.

Sound could be the games only saving grace. The gun shots are fairly decent and the background music of the game suits it well. Apart from that, the constant gibbering of French enemies does start to annoy you, even if they do blurt out random Arnold screams each time they are shot.

The graphics in the game are fairly terrible for it's time. The game was released at the end of July this year and looks like it could have been created by monkeys 8 years prior. Graphically, Doom 3 could be seen as better. The only semi-decent part of the graphics is the guns, but that's about it. Face models are bad, and many of them look like a current Michael Jackson sculpture.

And now we come to length. I personally don't know too much about length, but what I do know is that a game should take longer than 2 hours to complete. The storyline to this entire game could be a single mission in another game. If you really want to delve into this game, then be my guest and play some multiplayer online by yourself, as there is nobody that has the right mind to play this game against others.

Code of Honor is one title that I never wish to revisit. I didn't hear about the first one, and I don't wish to hear about the third one that is being made. The only reason I know this is because the game ends with "To be Continued". Enjoy wasting your time playing this game, even if it is only for a couple hours.

The game is unenjoyable, but it works.
