5 of the Best Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games

Massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs) are videogames that involve thousands of players creating their characters in a role-playing environment. They take place in a virtual world that isn’t static and provide battles and tasks that become progressively harder to help players build their character abilities, experience, and in-game wealth.

For the gaming experience to keep evolving, MMORPGs allow gamers to create alliances, interact with the game, personalize their avatars, and create game content. If a player doesn't want to enter battles and dungeons to build up their character, they can still participate by building shops in cities and villages, contributing to the game’s world authenticity. Below are the best massively multiplayer online role-playing games.

1.The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO)

In The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO), gamers build their characters and select from 10 various races. They may also choose from one of six classes, and your choice may affect different magic, passive, and attack skills. As you progress through the game, you’ll level up your abilities and skills to become more powerful. ESO has three expansions, including Summerset, Morrowind, and Elsweyr.

2. World of Warcraft

In World of Warcraft, you control a character from the first- or third-person perspective and start exploring the world, interacting with other characters, completing quests, and fighting all kinds of monsters from the Warcraft universe. It has different realms independent of another.

The realms are player-versus-environment (PvE) mode, where gamers complete quests and fight against AI-controlled characters, player-versus-player (PvP) mode, where gamers contend with monsters and other players characters. The game has seven expansions: Wrath of the Lich King, The Burning Crusade, Cataclysm, Warlords of Draenor, Mists of Pandaria, and Battle of Azeroth.

3. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic allows you to develop a character and join the Sith Empire or the Galactic Republic faction. It has eight classes that you can base your characters on and more than 10 playable races and species. The game presents PvE and PvP environments and servers whose features are companions, melee and space combat, and interactions with player and non-player characters. Knights of the Old Republic has seven updates, each of which provides additional content, new items and chapters, gameplay updates, and more.

4. Guild Wars 2

In Guild Wars 2, you develop a character based on one of five races and eight character professions or classes. It's a unique game whose changes depend on the player's decisions and actions. The game gets frequent updates and introduces new storyline elements, weapons, rewards, and items. Guild Wars 2 has two expansions but also adds seasons to Living Stories.

5. Lineage

Lineage is a game that allows gamers to battle each other or complete missions and create their characters through dual-style or castle siege combat. Lineage starts by choosing a class of characters with various abilities and attributes, and each begins in a different Lineage universe area.

Endnote

Massively multiplayer online role-playing games are additive, vast, and complex. Consider the above MMORPGs for a fun gaming experience.
