Freebie Feelers… Disney Pixar Brave: The Video Game

Freebie Feelers is a series where we download the free monthly console-specific or newly released free-to-play games to test their worth. This series will contain some useful information as well as plenty of personal opinion. While these articles may not be reviews, we hope that you will be able to use them to help decide whether that free download is worth it.

What is it?

Disney Pixar Brave: The Video Game, or just Brave for short, is a platformer set to coincide with the actions of Disney’s 2012 film of the same name; Brave. It tells the story of Merida, the archer, as she battles her way through the rugged lands of Scotland, whilst adding a certain magical flair that Disney Pixar are known for.

What did I think?

Movie tie in games tend to have a bit of a bad rap, as they usually amount to nothing more than cookie cutter gameplay and casual games, however, Brave is a competent platformer, with plenty to keep the kids entertained (at least). They also have a notorious lineage of being games to get easy achievements, and the hunters amongst us all won’t be disappointed with the somewhat free 1,000 points that this game will give out.

Is it worth it?

It’s great for achievement hunters wanting a free additional 1,000 gamerscore to add to their tags, and those with kids can breathe a sigh of relief that they’re getting something kid-friendly without having to spend even more money. If you don’t fit either of those camps, you might be better off giving this one a miss.

Brave will be free through Games with Gold on the 1st of March till the 15th.

I love that you refer to Disney Princess Merida as "the archer".
