Freebie Feelers is a series where we download the free monthly console-specific or newly released free-to-play games to test their worth. This series will contain some useful information as well as plenty of personal opinion. While these articles may not be reviews, we hope that you will be able to use them to help decide whether that free download is worth it.
What is it?
Handball 16 let’s you discover the world of handball in a realistic adaptation of the real world sport. With over 68 teams from the three biggest European leagues and all the moves and tactics, Handball 16 is a complete handball experience.
What did you think?
Honestly, where do I start with Handball 16. As far as games though you would hope for some sort of tutorial and maybe even standard to the quality. With Handball 16, all of that is thrown out of the window and what you are left with is a title that not only disappointed across the board but even has technical problems to match. Handball 16 feels like a title that never really finished its development as all aspects from the visuals, sound and even the controls are all underwhelming and lackluster. The fact that there is not really explanation as to what everything is or does and that input lag can be found throughout leaves nothing short of a bad taste in your mouth.
You could argue that maybe there is depth to be found within the game as it tries to capture the charm of the real sport but no, there isn’t. The game takes the sport and butchers it into a lackluster title that has no real outstanding or saving quality. Sure, it plays and you can go through matches but with no fun to be had, what is the point?
Is it worth downloading?
No. Straight up no. Handball 16 is sadly one of the worst PlayStation Plus titles we have seen in a long time, if ever. It’s a game that is not worth your time as it fails to accomplish any sort of entertainment to the player. Don’t waste your time on this game.
Handball 16 is available now as part of the PlayStation Plus lineup for September, 2017.
