GameCube Emulators Are a Window to Your Childhood

GameCube Emulators Are a Window to Your Childhood

The history of computer games covers more than 20 years. Unfortunately, nowadays not every fan of the old console games has a chance to jump into the exciting world of retro gaming. However, nostalgia for the GameCube has forced programmers to develop a number of emulator programs that allow running your favorite games in their original form on an ordinary laptop or even a mobile phone. So whether it is Medabots - Infinity, Donkey Konga 2 - Hit Song Parade or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – any videogame can be played on your PC.

Personally, I enjoy reliving my childhood with Resident Evil and although it's on loads of devices, I prefer to use a GameCube emulator. I like playing with the soldiers from S.T.A.R.S.' Alpha squad on their mission to find their missing colleagues. I can remember the first time I began to explore the mansion, not knowing what would come next. The fear of the zombies (and the worse crimson heads!), trying to solve all of these weird puzzles while keeping an ear out for anything that might be after me...

Of course, you can't forget the tons of superhero games that were released on the GameCube. Superman, Batman and the X-Men all had games that still make me giddy - many of which probably won't ever get a remake.

When was the last time you heard the name Gotcha Force? It was great, brainless action with alien toys fighting each other, and yet we've never seen a sequel or a remake, or even an entry on the Virtual Console! The aforementioned Donkey Konga 2 actually had a sequel, did you know? Probably not, as it was exclusive to Japan, and the only way you can play that (and other Japan-only games) is to import it at great expense. Or, grab an emulator.

So What’s the Benefit?

Emulators can take you back to a time when you didn't have to worry about photo realism, but they're also great for people who never had a chance to play them. Mega Man Network Transmission might not have been the best, but it's the 21st century: we have the technology and the innovation. If nothing else, we need to ensure the past “hits” are not forgotten by gamers, some of which have not lost their relevance to this day! It's hard to come across a copy of Mario Kart Double Dash, as not all console games are sold in every store, but this doesn't mean that they have to be completely forgotten. Nevertheless, many of us can return to that carefree childhood even for an hour or two with the help of console emulators.
