Innex 'Rapid Shot' to Carry Age Rating?

Rapid Shot Flyer

"LOS ANGELES, CALIF., June 2, 2010— Innex Inc. announced today that it has secured distribution rights for the first shooting peripheral in history intended for mature video game players only. The simulated machine gun will feature a warning label and is designed exclusively for gamers aged 17 and older."

'Rapid Shot', the new Wii Gun Peripheral designed by Komodo and distributed by Innex Inc. is on the way, with its premiere coming at E3. A new press release details that it will carry an age rating of 17+, set by Innex themselves and no official board.

"The ESRB had never dealt with anyone creating an age-restricted video game peripheral,” said Innex president Titi Ngoy.

“However, this is a very realistic combat accessory, and we want to ensure that parents and retailers understand that.”

Very clever marketing move by Innex? Guarding themselves before a possible outcry from parents when they see their kids with this rather realistic looking peripheral?

The 'Rapid Shot' is based on the Heckler & Koch MP5 submachine gun, and unlike previous Wii Guns, this is a complete controller, replacing the Wii-mote entirely instead of integrating it, something not previously done on the Wii.

Expect more coverage of this awesome looking controller from our team at E3 soon!

Right because that's far more dangerous than the toy guns kids have been playing with for years and years which inhabit nigh on every toyshop in the world....

well tbh, after the incident not so long ago when a kid picked up a real gun instead of their wii gun and then shot themselves in the face - http://kotaku.com/5489137/wii-gun-involved-in-3+year+old-shooting-is-amazingly-lifelike, something like this carrying an age rating doesn't surprise me.
