So I Tried… Gravity Rush

So I Tried… Gravity Rush

Each edition of So I Tried… I will try a game that I have never tried before. Will I find something new to love? Will I find something new to despise? I'll take a full half hour, no matter how bad it gets or how badly I do, to see if this is the game for me. This time I went for the Vita version of Gravity Rush.

What I thought it was

A puzzle platformer which needs you to alter gravity. I've been honestly looking forward to playing this since the Vita came out, but until now I've never had one… Games that use gravity - or physics in general - are always fascinating to me, and although I don't recall exactly what Gravity Rush is anymore, I know it involves controlling gravity.

What it actually is

An action role-playing game with platforming elements, is really the best way to describe this. Kat, the main character, wakes up with amnesia only to find that she has the power to control gravity itself. Using these powers she can walk on any surface and even fall through the air -- so long as her powers have charge remaining. She discovers there are more like her, and must locate them to find out more about what she is, whilst battling the vicious Nevi which have begun to appear in the floating city of Hekseville.

Will I keep playing

Hells yeah I'll keep playing! Using gravity at will is awesome, and it has more of a storyline than I expected. I thought it would be a 2D platformer, but instead it’s a third-person action game. There’s a lot more for me to experience in this game, and I really am having fun with the gravity powers. I’m just glad they recharge, otherwise I’d have fallen to my death so many times… I was willing to spend money on this, before I realised I got it as part of my PlayStation Plus subscription. After playing it, I’m really considering getting the recently released Remastered PS4 version.
