Top Game Releases for August 2022

retro/Alana here; I can’t believe we are almost halfway through summer already! The one good part is there are a lot of cool-looking games coming out in the month of August that will keep you busy while you hide away from the sunlight and intense heat everyone seems to be having lately. These are the top five games I can’t wait to check out!

Two Point Campus — 9th of August

Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, PC

twopointcampus

From the developers of Two Point Hospital, here you will build the university campus of your dreams, hire teachers and staff, and run this bizarre school full of unique characters and crazy classes. Will you be successful and create an institution that everyone will want to attend, or will your efforts be for nought?

If you order the game early, you will get some cool bonus items to decorate your school and the campus grounds. You can even get a classy fountain known as the Fountain of Knowledge to inspire the staff and students at the school. This title seems like a lot of fun and I can’t wait to create the most fun and crazy-looking university that I can!

SD Gundam Battle Alliance — 25th of August

PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC

SD Gundam Battle Alliance release date revealed

I have always been a fan of the SD Gundam characters ever since I played the games they featured in on the Famicom. These super-deformed warriors look so tough but adorable at the same time! This title has you leading three-unit squadrons made of Mobile Suits and pilots from all throughout Gundam’s history to crush your foes and stop them from twisting important moments in that history. The Mobile Suits even display realistic weathering as you lead these units through battle.

I am especially excited to play alongside two other players to work together to complete missions together in this new SD Gundam action RPG! This game looks gorgeous, so I am sure there will be many epic-looking battles to fight in. Plus, who doesn’t love being able to fight in cool Mobile Suits that you can power up?!

Pac-Man World Re-Pac — 26th of August

Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, PC

Pac Man World Re Pac Main Art 1200x675

Pac-Man is back in this all-new 3D adventure game that is a full recreation of the original Pac-Man World that was released for the PlayStation back in 1999. It’s Pac-Man’s birthday and he arrives home for the big party to find that the Ghosts have kidnapped his family and friends, ruining the event. Pac-Man heads to Ghost Island to save everyone from the evil Ghosts by solving puzzles and exploring the island to bring his family and friends home.

This game features multiple modes like Quest and Maze mode, along with updated visuals and fine-tuned mechanics to help you explore the environment in this platforming adventure. I do have to say that I am curious to see Pac-Man do the butt-bounce move that the game summary mentions. It sounds pretty silly!

TMNT: The Cowabunga Collection — 30th of August

Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, PC

 tmnt

As a child growing up in the ‘80s I adored the Ninja Turtles. I remember rushing home from school to watch the cartoon and see the turtles battle the foot clan, Bebop and Rock-Steady, and of course Krang with the Techno-Drome. I was also lucky enough to have the first game on the NES, and was able to rent the other titles. Once I was older and started to collect Nintendo cartridges again I made sure to pick up the whole series since they were so good!

The Cowabunga Collection includes 13 titles from TMNT’s history, including the NES games, Super NES, Game Boy, the Sega Mega Drive (or Genesis depending on where you live), and some arcade titles. This collection is going to be freaking awesome; it will definitely be a must-buy for me! If you are a fan of the Turtles this would be a great addition to your gaming library.

Destroy All Humans! 2: Reprobed — 30th of August

PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, PC

 destroyallhumans2

Krypto is back to get revenge on the RGB for destroying his mothership. But to be successful you will need to team up with members of the very species that you are trying to enslave. You will be defending Earth from the other aliens trying to sabotage your plans, along with finding and abducting specimens to grind up in your blender to create DNA cocktails to upgrade your skills.

I can’t wait to use the classic weapons from the original game, and try new ones like the Meteor Shower. I’m secretly hoping there are cows in this title like the first game; it was a lot of fun to abduct them and have them floating in the air!

Are you planning on checking out any of these titles? Or are there other games that I have missed that should make the list? Be sure to let me know in the comments, and I will be back soon with my picks for the month of September! Stay cool and hydrated!
