QPAD DX-30 Pro Gaming Optical mouse review

When I was asked if I wanted to review a mouse I had to give it a go seeing as my old mouse was getting, you know, old. So, I decided to give the QPAD DX-30 ProGaming Optical Mouse a look over.

The box clearly shows what the mouse will look like before you take it out, it also has pictures on the side of the box. In the box are the mouse and the quick start guide. Now the quick start guide doesn't really help you per se and it doesn't really explain a lot about the mouse. It does, however, warn to “Avoid prolonged use of this product. Take breaks every 30 minutes”, and to “always drive safely, avoid distractions and follow local laws”. There are more but it feels like to me they just threw in any sort of don’t do/can do things. I mean, I’m not sure how or why anyone would have the mouse next to the bath/sink, but it instructs that you can't use it within 30 inches of water.

As I pulled my old mouse out of its spot and replaced it with the QPAD mouse I noticed the cable was a couple of inches shorter than my old mouse, but it still managed to fit in the same USB slot in the back of my PC tower. It’s easy to install you just plug it in and wait for a few seconds. However, nothing in the guide tells me about a program to change the colours (it only flashes rainbow colours) on the mouse itself and I haven’t found how to change them.

On the box it does tell you that to get the firmware you have to get it online, so I went to the QPAD site and downloaded it, not that it changed anything. Though I did have to go into my settings to make the cursor move slightly faster than what my old mouse settings was.

When I turned over the mouse I thought ‘ohhh a switch what does this do’, it has on it 1000Hz, 500Hz and 125Hz, so I flicked it from 125Hz to 1000Hz. It hasn't popped up with anything on the computer or done anything to the mouse at all, to me it's a mystery switch.

I do like the mouse for the fact it is colourful and bright, when I click the wheel in it makes a very quiet sound. The main clicking of the left and right buttons on the mouse are not as quiet, but it sits perfectly in my tiny hand and is fine for a right hand user.

When I was on the site I looked to see how much the QPAD DX-30 Pro may have been and it said £25.31/€29.90. Now, I’m not 100% sure if this price is suitable, I mean yes, it's a decent mouse it moves about like it should and it is easy to install but you can’t change the colours and the quick start guide is nonsense.

A good mouse for the sort of person that wants to plug in and go.
