Cats Empire Review

Time-passing, cat-loving gamers, this one is purrrfect for you (yes expect some claw-ful puns throughout). Cats Empire is a family-friendly strategy game available on iOS and Android. Using a small selection of tactics, players must claw their way to the top of a feline-run society. As a self-confessed cat lover, I pounced right on the opportunity to play this game and I do not regret my decision. My only issue with the game is the fact that your team and the enemies cats all looks exactly the same, the only exception being the bosses and the elder who guides you through the tutorial.

Cats Empire uses an interesting style of play where you find yourself running a gang of cats who try to infiltrate other enemy crews in order to progress through the city. During these infiltrations you can either steal fish from the enemy, or you can feed what fish you have to those within the camp to the point where they burst! Which may be somewhat disturbing for an extreme cat lover.
The aim of the game is to become the biggest, most feared crew of the kingdom and to do this you most take out rival groups, build your own gang and obtain collectibles in order to move onto harder districts. Each district will end in a classic boss fight just to help a little more with the feel of progression.

I would like to have seen different breeds of cats having different traits and difficulties. But I didn’t make the game, Spil Games did, and they have done a great job of it regardless of my one criticism.

The gameplay is very straightforward with a few complications, which allows for users to play tactically when choosing whether to steal fish or kill an enemy crew member. Despite their physical similarities, your feline followers all have different abilities and levels which you can improve and you eventually find yourself favouring some of your kitties over others. All your cats come with their own names like, Brendan and Luke, but if you still have trouble distinguishing the difference between your furry friends, you can customise them by adding hats, shirts, glasses etc. all with the help of in-app purchasing.

Cats Empire also allows you to let out your competitive side and raid your friends crews. Once you return to the game you can see who has raided you and get your revenge. Overall, a pawsome game for passing the time and having a little friendly competition, let out your inner cat loving side with this Cats Empire.

Cats Empire (Reviewed on Android)

The game is average, with an even mix of positives and negatives.
