2K Offers XCOM 2 as Free Weekend with Massive Discount for Limited Time

The Steam Typing Fest has kicked off, and while players have been looking forward to the first Spotlight Fest of the year (niche mini-sales), other companies wanted a piece of the Steam Sale pie. To this end, other publishers have been creating their own third-party events on Steam to partake in the surge of Steam sales, even if their titles don't fit the Typing Fest description.

One such publisher is 2K, which has started an official Steam Third-party Event to share new discounts on some titles. During this publisher sale, the team is celebrating the imminent 10-year anniversary of the XCOM franchise by offering XCOM 2 for a free weekend as part of the promotional period... though not exactly for the entire duration of it.

For those who want to pick up XCOM 2 and give it a try, the free promotion only lasts until the 9th of February 2026, as opposed to the entire 2K Publisher Sale duration of the 19th of February 2026. So if you're interested in testing out the title, don't miss out on a chance to do it this weekend for free.

If you decide you want to continue your experience, XCOM 2 is at a huge discount, offering the £34.99 title for just £1.74. It's a 95% discount that isn't too rare (it's happened several times throughout the years), but it's still a great opportunity for those who want to check out the title.
