A Classic Monster is Returning in First Update for Monster Hunter World: Iceborne

Capcom are continuing the trend of releasing robust, large scale free updates for their highly popular title Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, with this newest update bringing back a classic monster along with a new region.

The returning monster is Rajang, which saw its debut in the PlayStation 2 title Monster Hunter 2. Rajang is a thunderous fanged creature that resembles an ape, unleashing powerful swinging attacks, as well as utilising some new attacks that will add some surprises for veterans of the franchise. Rajang can be used to acquire a striking gold and black armour set, which has a lot of offensive utility.

New post-game content for Iceborne comes in the way of the Guiding Lands. These are smaller biomes that resemble locations seen in the base game, with a slight twist. Upon completing numerous tasks in these biomes, the level of the Region will become higher, leading to more challenging tasks and higher level rewards.

A brand new volcanic biome can also be accessed via this region, which is home to the Rajang. New tempered monsters can also be fought here in the form of Tempered Gold Rathian and Tempered Silver Rathalos. The materials gathered from doing challenging quests in the Guiding Lands can be used to craft layered armour, which resembles the appearance of early game armour sets.

The last key update is a smaller one, which allows players to visit other players rooms in the game. It’s not a huge change in terms of extra content for the game, but it can allow players to share their room layouts. Rooms will also be receiving additional decorations in the form of paid DLC.

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne is currently available for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and is set to release on Steam during January 2020.
