A New Castlevania Title Was Announced During the Latest State of Play — Castlevania: Belmont's Curse! Watch the Trailer

Many new games were announced during the latest State of Play — PlayStation's livestream — and a surprising amount of them were all Konami's. One of them is the newest entry to the beloved Castlevania franchise, which hasn't seen a new title in many years.

That is only one of the shocking things about the reveal, as the other is that Evil Empire and Motion Twin will be working on this newest entry. For those who might not know why this is relevant, these are the teams responsible for the mega hit game, Dead Cells, which even got a Castlevania DLC.

Castlevania: Belmont's Curse is set 23 years after Castlevania: Dracula's Curse, in Paris, 1499. Players will embody a new playable member of the renowned family in an all-new adventure!

After the city is overrun by monsters, Trevor Belmont's successor steps up with the iconic holy whip to put a stop to the chaos... but this time, it'll do more than just kill enemies: it works as an essential movement tool.

As always, the environments are as deadly as the enemies themselves, and players will have to traverse them properly to survive. When they do, there might be a puzzle or two waiting to test their mind, too.

But Motion Twin and Evil Empire bring something from their own legacy, as the art style is different from the classic Castlevania entries. It's still gothic, it's still gritty, but there's an evident (and familiar) Dead Cells essence to it.

Can't wait? Then make sure to wishlist to show support! Castlevania: Belmont's Curseis set to release sometime in 2026 for Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and the Nintendo Switch.
