Achilles: Legends Untold is Getting a Closed Beta

Only the dead can share the untold legends of Achilles.

Dark Point Games announced on the 24th of January that after an impressive reveal last summer, Achilles: Legends Untold will have a closed beta starting on the 27th of January.

The beta will allow players to relive the battle at the gates of Troy, to face legendary warriors of old such as Hektor, Paris and a bunch of mythological beasts too. The combat in this game brings a unique isometric approach to traditional Souls-like gameplay. As with a Souls game, analysing and understanding enemy movement and attack patterns is crucial, to spice things up, Dark Point Games has added special abilities into the mix. These abilities have the potential to turn the tide during a fight, abilities like the shield toss to overwhelm groups of enemies with the raw strength of Achilles. This blend of familiar mechanics from Souls games and the unique twists that Dark Point Games have mixed in mean that the game is there to be enjoyed by Souls veterans and new players alike.

The overall gameplay experience consists of satisfying and skill-based combat, RPG elements and resource management. As is the case with a lot of games with RPG elements, players must collect resources on their adventure that can be used to craft deadlier weapons to help the player devastate foes and bring Achilles to the peak of his powers. As the players watch Achilles get stronger and unlock more abilities they’ll have to adapt to the changing world, with Achilles not being the only one to learn some new tricks on his journey.

The game also features the innovative GAIA system, meaning that AI characters’ actions feel much more alive and work together in unpredictable ways to try and take down Achilles. Players will be immersed into gritty battles in which monsters will adapt to their playstyle, keeping them on their toes with ambushes and varying tactics, all possible thanks to the in-house-designed GAIA system.
