April's Additions to NES Library Available Next Week

The Switch’s ever-growing library of NES titles is set to receive another three new additions this month. Classic titles Punch Out!! featuring Mr. Dream, Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels and Star Soldier will all be available to play starting next week, exclusively for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers.

Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels was originally released in Japan as Super Mario Bros. 2. Of course, longtime Nintendo fans will know that the version of SMB2 we got in the West was based off Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic, while our version of SMB2 was eventually released as Super Mario USA in Japan. Confused? All you need to know is that The Lost Levels is more of what you loved from Super Mario Bros., with an extra layer of challenge. Get ready for poison mushrooms, backward warp zones and gusts of wind that could help or hinder your progress.

In Punch Out!! featuring Mr. Dream, you’ll take up and coming boxer Little Mac through a series of one-on-one matches against increasingly difficult opponents. You’ll need to pay close attention to your adversaries’ subtle movements in order to jab, hook and uppercut your way to victory.

Finally, in Star Soldier, you’ll pilot the compact space fighter Caesar through the bowels of a floating space station in an attempt to prevent its computer Starbrain from enacting its plan for a galactic invasion across a total of 16 stages.

You can get a look at all three titles in the trailer above. Punch Out!! featuring Mr. Dream, Star Soldier and Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels will be available to play via the Nintendo Entertainment System: Nintendo Switch Online app from 10th April.

It's certainly a curious selection to add, a bit of platforming, a bit of sports and a shooter.

Definitely nice to see more Hudson representation with Star Soldier. The selection is all in all a pretty interesting one.
