ASTROBOTANICA Releases in Steam Early Access with New Launch Trailer and 2026 Roadmap

Space Goblin Studios' debut title ASTROBOTANICA has officially launched on Steam Early Access. Take on the role of highly-skilled alien botanist Xel, as they embark on a mission to discover rare seeds that'll save their home planet. The latest launch trailer gives prospective botanists a look at what sorts of content awaits in ASTROBOTANICA's whimsical alien planet called Earth. Set in the Pleistocene era, players will uncover ancient civilisations and interact with extinct creatures, replacing combat for whimsy and discovery.

The title was released on Steam Early Access on the 16th of February, but Space Goblin Studio has already shared information about what's coming. Estimating one to two years of Early Access development, we have information regarding the first three major content updates planned for 2026.

New systems will be included throughout the development process, including plant hybridization, fishing, and expanded building and crafting features, to name a few. Of course, the team wants to keep their plans loose, inviting the community to share their thoughts and shape ASTROBOTANICA's development cycle.

The one-minute-long trailer gives us a look at what players can expect from ASTROBOTANICA, such as base-building elements, taming the various Pleistocene era animals, plant research, ancient-civilisation humans, and more! It's a survival lite title, offering accessibility for newcomers to the genre — here's what Arkadiusz Woźniak, co-founder and game director at Space Goblin Studio, had to say about the genre and the Early Access.
