Blizzard Announces Overwatch 2 Is Coming To Steam Soon!

Players of Blizzard games are very familiar with Battle.net at this point, the decades-old home launcher for Diablo IV, World of Warcraft, and more. While support for Battle.net is still ongoing, Blizzard has announced in an official news post that it will bring a selection of games to Steam, “starting with Overwatch 2”. This change is coming very soon on the 10th of August 2023, and Mike Ybarra, President of Blizzard Entertainment confirmed on Twitter that the game will be launched directly through Steam without going through the Battle.net client.

The post also clarifies that players on Steam will still need to connect Overwatch 2 to a Battle.net account, a requirement for all platforms. Additionally, players will have access to Steam Achievements, their Steam friends list, and in-game invites!

It sounds like this is going to be the first of many Blizzard titles making their way over to Valve’s launcher. Stay tuned for more information about other potential games coming to the platform. In the meantime, take a look at the brand-new Overwatch 2 Steam page!
