Blizzard Announces World of Warcraft Classic Cataclysm Launch Date and Content Roadmap

The time for the World of Warcraft: Cataclysm expansion has arrived in World of Warcraft Classic. Blizzard has officially announced that the pre-expansion patch will go live on 30th April 2024, bringing new system changes, races, and more.

We’ve also received a handful of other dates, laying out the expansion’s content map for the rest of the year. Cataclysm Classic launches on 20th May, Rise of the Zandalri is set for July 2024, and Rage of the Firelands will arrive sometime in October 2024. Then, Hour of Twilight kicks off the new year in January 2025. This has caused many players to question whether we’re speedrunning the entire expansion, but nonetheless, much of the community is grateful to have actual dates and release windows from the start.

As mentioned, the pre-expansion patch sets the foundation for launch, giving us access to the Goblin and Worgen races, new race and class combos, the Archaeology profession, transmog collection, updated talents and spells, and levelling updates. New zones, dungeons, raids, and more will come with the official launch on the 20th of May.

Blizzard also provided players with a list of mounts and pets that will become harder to get or won’t be obtainable at all once the Cataclysm pre-expansion patch drops, such as Invincible, Mimiron’s Head, and more. So if you're looking to get those items, be sure to do so before we say goodbye to Wrath of the Lich King
