British Tank Tree and More Vehicles Revealed for War Thunder 1.55 Update

British Tank Tree and More Vehicles Revealed for War Thunder 1.55 Update

Last week, War Thunder showcased some of the British tanks that would be coming to the regular British Ground Forces tree; among them are the Cromwell, Tetrarch and Churchill tanks.

Over the past week, Gaijin Entertainment has released yet more information about the British ground forces tree and the tanks that will feature. To see a larger version of the image, click on the image itself.

With the developers' server opening on the weekend, it seems that the British tanks in 1.55 will be released in batches, starting with the first tier vehicles in A13 Mk.I and Tetrarch Mk.I as reserves, and the Crusader Mk.II and T17E2 SPAA as researchables in the regular British tank tree. This is for them to test and correct the problems associated with the new vehicles.

A handful of British tanks have also been showcased over the past week. These include the Centurion Mk.III, which will find itself at the end of Tier IV with a 20pdr gun, and the Conqueror Mk.II Tier V heavy tank with a 120mm gun.

For tanks that appear earlier in the war, we will be getting the A34 Comet and the A30 Challenger in late Tier III and early Tier IV respectively for regular tank-killing duties.

Anti-aircraft wise, we will get what's possibly the first armoured car designs, the T17E2 and the AC Mk. II. For late tiers, the Crusader Mk. I armed with a 40mm Bofors cannon and the Crusader Mk.II armed with twin 20mm Oerlikon cannons are available.

On the premium side of things for British ground forces, the Australian AC IV 'Thunderbolt' cruiser tank will also be added with a 17pdr gun.

On the devserver, two new desert maps have been showcased, Tunisia and Al Alamein alongside the new tanks for testing. Although most things shown on the devserver are preliminary, chances are the desert maps will debut with the British tanks for a showdown with the German tanks.

Other than the updates to the tank tree, the British also get two new bombers in the Short Stirling Mk.I and III, capable of better bomb loads than the Wellingtons and sitting before the Lancasters in the research tree.

The Japanese aviation tree are the biggest beneficiaries of new planes in this patch, with the A7M2 set to be finally released in the regular tree, along with other planes that are unannounced yet (may not be final) but available in the devserver testing - a new variant of the Ki-61-I tei Hien with 2x20mm Ho-5 cannons and 2x12.7mm MG, a Ki-44-II hei with 4x12.7mm MG and a premium Ki-44-II otsu with 40mm cannons.

The Soviets will be getting a new top-end jet, the MiG-17 with slightly improved top speed over the MiG-15bis.

Although not formally shown on the devblogs yet (in other words, there might be further changes), the devserver also showcased the F3F biplane for the US aviation tree, and the Ju 88 A-1 for German aviation; the German ground forces would also be getting a premium captured Churchill tank to supplement their early tier heavy tank lineup. Soviet ground forces are getting a T-44 armed with a 122mm cannon as premium.

We will continue to keep you updated with more information about the War Thunder 1.55 patch with the exciting new British tanks, which will add a new dimension to the Ground Forces gameplay.
