Bugsnax Revealed as PlayStation 5's First Free PlayStation Plus Title

Developer Young Horses has announced that its upcoming creature-hunting, mystery-solving adventure, Bugsnax, will be free upon launch on the PlayStation 5 for PlayStation Plus subscribers.

The news comes alongside a bevy of new information regarding pre-orders and cross-gen support. Pre-orders are available now for PC via the Epic Games Store (at a 15% pre-order discount) and physical versions for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 are available to pre-order via the site Fangamer (other retailers to offer pre-orders later).

Additionally, while ownership of the PlayStation 4 version of Bugsnax entitles owners to the PlayStation 5 version (and vice versa), PlayStation Plus membership only entitles players to the PlayStation 5 version of the game. There will be no cross-generation support for Bugsnax as a PlayStation Plus title—understandably.

Between the (now expanded) PlayStation Plus Collection and Bugsnax, Sony is putting its best foot forward when it comes to launching the PlayStation Plus service on its newest console, no doubt in large part because of the competition posed by Microsoft's Game Pass. Still, there's no denying a good deal, and this most certainly is one. Even PlayStation 4 owners will be in for a good month, with Middle Earth: Shadow of War and Hollow Knight: Voidheart Edition being the previous generation's PlayStation Plus offering (which PlayStation 5 owners will also have access to).

The PlayStation 5, and Bugsnax's PlayStation Plus offer, launches on the 12th November for the USA, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea; 19th November everywhere else.
