Candy Crush Saga Creator Drops "Candy" Trademark

As of this Monday, Candy Crush Saga creator King has officially abandoned the trademark for the word "candy". King confirmed the news to be true but has offered no further comment.

King successfully trademarked the term in January and began to issue legal warnings to developers and publishers using the word "candy" in their titles. 

One game that was attacked by King was Candy Swipe, whose trademark King attempted to cancel despite the creator claiming his game pre-dated theirs.

While King has offered no comment on the situation, their actions over the past month have been seen to be highly controversial and negatively received.
