Capcom Releases Four Retro Titles for April Fools' Day

Capcom Releases Four Retro Titles for April Fools' Day

For April Fools' Day, players have grown to be watchful of fake announcements of epic titles that everyone wants. It's been a bad trend that's upset a few gamers over the years, announcing titles players actually want, only to fake out in the name of a joke.

While not exactly an April Fools' Day prank, Capcom did do something highly requested for the day. For the celebrations, the team released four retro titles, which were highly requested games that players would have loved to add to their Steam library.

Here are the four games that Capcom released on Steam:

  • Resident Evil (1996)
  • Resident Evil 3 Nemesis (1999)
  • Resident Evil 2 (1998)
  • Breath of Fire IV

The collection of items has been really well-received by the community, with the games reaching hundreds of reviews just days after launch. While they've been receiving positive reviews, some issues have followed the launches, including regional pricing issues (with the prices being all across the board, from 37% cheaper than the recommended price to 28% more expensive) and third-party DRM being included.

The latter has become a widespread controversy that has been following Capcom for a few years. Including The Enigma Protector DRM on 30-year-old titles has rubbed players the wrong way, upsetting buyers who have been leaving negative reviews, saying the title should've received better Steam features, such as achievements, trading cards, and more.

For those who want to check it out, all four games are at a 50% discount, bringing the individual price down from £7.99 to £3.99 for a limited time.
