Castlevania: Belmont's Curse Announces Release Date for New Upcoming Title

Castlevania has been a dominant franchise in the videogame industry for a long time, even though KONAMI has left it dormant for so long. Its prominence began when its launch inspired the creation of the metroidvania genre (amalgamated with Nintendo's Metroid) to become one of the most famous genres.

Of course, Castlevania has survived in the form of homages, inspirations, and even DLC throughout the years, but it's time for the franchise to make its proper return. Castlevania: Belmont's Curse is the glorious return of the franchise, inviting players to check it out.

The title was announced on the 12th of February through a trailer that promised fast-paced action. The title is being developed by one of the teams that best handled the DLC conversion, with Evil Empire taking on the role of developer for the experience.

For the uninitiated, Evil Empire was one of the two development teams that worked on Dead Cells past its base launch. Beginning from the second DLC, Dead Cells: The Bad Seed, Evil Empire took over a big chunk of the development from Motion Twin, leading Dead Cells to the heights of success that it received years after its launch.

Evil Empire also worked on Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania, which was a masterclass on elevating the franchise to new heights. Bringing iconic weapons, locations, characters, and bosses, it was praised as an amazing return for the franchise.

Evil Empire is now working with KONAMI to launch Castlevania: Belmont's Curse after the end-of-service announcement for Dead Cells. The new title in the franchise is reminiscent of the movement in Dead Cells, so it's an exciting time for those who hadn't had enough of the roguelike metroidvania prior to its final update, The End is Near.

The trailer for Castlevania: Belmont's Curse is a showcase of what awaits players in Dracula's Castle. Taking on the role of a female Belmont, players will fight in a stylistic 2D world against foes with the iconic Belmont whip.
