Check Out the First In-Game Footage of Assassin's Creed Valhalla

Cinematic trailers and art teasers weren't going to hold fans over for long. Ubisoft Montreal knew that in-game footage of Assassin's Creed Valhalla would soon be the only thing fans would clamour for, and in Microsoft's 'Xbox 20/20' event, the studio delivered. Check out the first ever in-game trailer for Assassin's Creed Valhalla, the Viking-themed entry in the long-running historical franchise, set to release near the end of the year for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PC and Stadia.

Being an Xbox showcase, the discussion that followed the trailer paid close attention to how Valhalla would utilise the unique features of the Series X. The console's increased power will make for a game with a larger scope than ever, spanning both the picturesque open worlds of Norway and the mysterious English Dark Ages. Raids, full settlement-building mechanics and grand battles will feature in the game too. In addition, Ubisoft was eager to point out the fast loading times Series X players will enjoy, and the implementation of 'Smart Delivery', meaning that Xbox players need only buy the game once to access it on all Xbox platforms.

It'll be exciting to see how an evolution of hardware changes up familiar franchises like Assassin's Creed. Especially considering how the specific Ubisoft Studio behind this entry, Ubisoft Montreal, also brought us Black Flag and Origins, two beloved entries in the franchise. The game's release on older platforms does raise some concerns as to how much the entry will have been held back technologically in order to accommodate the dated hardware, but we'll have to wait and see what the situation on that front is closer to its release.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is planned for release "Holiday 2020" for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PC and Stadia.
