Crysis Remastered is Coming to Current Gen Systems

Following a recent tease from the previously dormant official Crysis Twitter account, we now have unofficial confirmation that a remastered version of the 2007 technical juggernaut Crysis is coming to current generation consoles.

A web page for the remaster was found by Twitter user “@RobotBrush”, with a description that reads:

"Crysis Remastered brings new graphic features, high-quality textures, and the CRYENGINE's native hardware- and API-agnostic ray tracing solution for PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and – for the very first time – Nintendo Switch."

The original Crysis was German developer’s second game, following 2004’s Far Cry, and is a first-person shooter in which players control a futuristic soldier who goes by the title "Nomad", equipped with a special “Nanosuit” that allows him to accomplish several superhuman feats, such as super strength, super speed and invisibility.

While the gameplay in Crysis was met with generally positive reception, it was the at-the-time cutting edge visuals that led to much of the game's praise. This was mostly thanks to Crytek’s proprietary game engine, CryEngine 2, which allowed the developers to push computer processing powers to their limits without compromise.

There is currently no word on a specific release date for Crysis Remastered, but expect it to release sometime in 2020.
