Debut Bundle From GameBundle.com Supports an Unlikely Good Cause

GameBundle are a newly started company offering bundles of games, in case that wasn’t clear from their name. The start-up is hoping to compete with the likes of Humble and Bundle Stars, using the same “pay what you like” approach to purchasing curated selections of games. Like those companies, some of the proceeds go to a good cause, but their first selected good cause is an interesting one.

This debut bundle will see money going to Special Effect. A great charity and not that unusual to see them selected, but it’s how that charity was selected that is a little different. The charity was picked by the winner of 22Cans’ Curiosity Cube contest, Bryan Henderson. If you’re not familiar with Bryan’s situation, it’s a particularly frustrating one for him. He was the winner of the game, clicking the final cube to complete the multiplayer puzzle. His prize was due to be the title of “God of Gods” in 22Cans’ next game Godus, and he was due to receive 1% of the game’s revenue. Neither of these things ever materialised however. Devolver Digital made him a god in their game “NOT A HERO” and Gamebundle wanted to fulfill the monetary pledge that remains unfulfilled. Henderson requested that the money go to his favourite charity and this is how Special Effect, a charity for children with disabilities, were chosen.

So, that’s the back story, but we’re sure you’re more worried about the important details: what do you get for your money?

Well, there's a decent selection, starting from the minimum payment of $1. Everyone paying at least that will get a copy of the b-movie themed shooter Tales From Space: Mutant Blobs Attack, a copy of Breach & Clear: Deadline, and two films. The films are Pixel Poetry, which charts the rise of videogames as an art medium, and e-sports documentary Good Game.

Beat the average price ($3.66 at the time of writing) to also get yourself two more games. Those are a copy of Pathologic Classic HD and alongside it, Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition.

$8 or more will get you two more games, but one of them is currently unknown. Train Fever (which is a game about lorries or something, we’re not sure) is confirmed and it will be complemented by a mystery game which will unlock on the 7th March.
