Designing Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy

A new dev insight video for Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy from Eidos-Montréal has been released. In the video, Eidos-Montréal Art Director, Bruno Gauthier-Leblanc takes a closer look into the game's character design for the titular ragtag Guardians, including Star-Lord, Drax, Gamora, Rocket, and Groot. Gauthier-Leblanc further states the importance of keeping the group both true to the game's narrative and recognisable to fans and audiences, combining backstory elements and comic inspirations to put together specific character designs for each Guardian, even finding ways to tie those decisions into gameplay.

Every Guardian's design incorporates these priorities, from Star-Lord's 80s-theme and pins, Drax's scars that represent his combat history and connection to his home planet of Katath, Gamora's comic-inspired black-and-white suit, Rocket's Groot-shaped bead tied into his goatee, and the harness that he attached to Groot's back that allows him to ride his friend like a turret.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC on the 26th of October, 2021. The game's Cloud Version for Nintendo Switch is also coming to select regions on the 26th of October.
