There's a surprisingly deep history of Doctor Who videogames (dating all the way back to the early 80s with Doctor Who: The First Adventure), and that history stands to get just a little bit deeper with the recent announcement of Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality. Based on 2019's VR-exclusive title, Doctor Who: The Edge of Time, this adaptation looks to expand on the original's story for players on non-VR platforms. Namely, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch and PC (via Steam) with plans for next-gen releases to be announced in the future. The title is planned for a spring 2021 release; check out the teaser trailer above.
Expect to solve puzzles, uncover mysteries and come face-to-face with some of The Doctor's greatest enemies—Daleks, Cybermen, Weeping Angels and more—on a journey to overcome the threat posed by a series of universe-spanning "glitches". While the original Edge of Time VR title focused solely on Jodie Whitaker's version of The Doctor, you'll want to stick around for the end of the trailer to hear a familiar voice from earlier in the show's history. We think you'll like what you hear!
Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality releases in spring 2021 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch and PC via Steam (plans for next-gen releases are yet to be confirmed).
