Drug Dealer Simulator Isn't Suing Schedule I
Movie Games have released a news statement on Steam to address the Schedule I lawsuit. Notably, they have pointed out that there isn't a lawsuit.
In the post, they discuss how Movie Games and Drug Dealer Simulator don't intend to prevent TVGS from developing and publishing their game. Instead, they mention how a preliminary legal analysis showed that there is a possibility of infringement, and so, an investigation is being pursued. The analysis began after Movie Games heard the repeated opinion that the two games are similar, and announce that as a publicly traded company, could face harsh consequences for neglecting to investigate these claims.
Notably, Movie Games have pointed out that the information was only communicated through the stock market communication system, ESPI, where it was published to ensure the information was transparently discussed. Notably, they mention how if they didn't publish the information, that it would have also been negligent, and that due to this, the information about a lawsuit was inaccurately reported by some media companies.
Developers of Drug Dealer Simulator, Byterunners, have no involvement with the lawsuit at all. They have also reported how Movie Games doesn't have any negative feelings towards TVGS, and have already wished them well shortly before Schedule I was released in Early Access, prior to the investigation being deemed necessary.
Notably, the announcement was made following an influx of negative reviews on Drug Dealer Simulator's Steam page. Since then, Movie Games have felt the need to clear the air, and are instead acting according to the scope of any infringement if announced, of which, they'll inform the public through ESPI.
