Duet Night Abyss Celebrates Second Major Content Update with Huaxu: The Wind Awakening — Chapter II

Last year, Duet Night Abyss launched, giving players the opportunity to experience a "gachaless Genshin Impact" (though that terminology is flawed — there is gacha, just not in character banners). This less-predatory approach to gameplay allows players to tackle the experience at their own pace, unlocking all of the characters through the grind. In my review of the experience and the first chapter, I praised it for its farm-first mentality that allows players to revisit it at their convenience without FOMO tactics on actual gameplay elements.

Now that the game has been out for a few months, and it released on Steam last month, Pan Studios and Hero Games are proud to announce the arrival of the second major content update. Chapter II — Huaxu: The Wind Awakening, bringing with it several additions to the free-to-play content.

The Wind Awakening takes players to Eastern culture, and with it brings two new characters: Zhiliu and Yuming. Again, since Duet Night Abyss features no character gacha, all previous characters (and the upcoming characters) will be unlockable through play, meaning that everyone can partake in the latest trendy playable character to arrive.

This also comes with a Mount System, that will feature four kinds of mounts that will assist in exploration. A free mount, Mecha-Sable Bi'an, will be offered for free for players by completing in-game tasks — it isn't clear whether the others will be acquirable through microtransactions.
