Dungeons & Dragons Hack-and-Slash Dark Alliance Announced

Among the announcements of The Game Awards 2019 was Dark Alliance, an upcoming third-person ARPG set in the Dungeons & Dragons universe. The reveal trailer, which can be found above, introduces the game’s distinct style with a portrayal of some series favourites: Drizzt Do’Urden, Catti-Brie, Bruenor and Wulfgar.

A spiritual successor to Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance, this title maintains the dungeon crawling, hack-and-slash gameplay while introducing the looting, RPG levelling and character progression of any good Dungeons & Dragons experience.

Up to four players can team up, either online or via local co-op, to take on the “icy tundra” of Icewind Dale and face recognisable Dungeons & Dragons enemies in their most visceral portrayal ever.

Jeff Hattem, founder of the game’s developer Tuque Games, excitedly talks of how the studio will be: “taking players on an epic journey through the harsh and violent Icewind Dale, where they’re going to need to use their wits, their weapons and their party members to help them survive”.

Dark Alliance will release on PC and consoles Autumn 2020.
