EA Loses 'Crown' As Worst Company in America

EA Loses 'Crown' As Worst Company in America

Video game heavyweight Electronic Arts has narrowly lost the dubious honor of being named the Worst Company in America for 2014, which would have been its third year of holding the title.

American consumer website Consumerist held round one today of its annual competition where readers vote to choose the worst corporation in the country, and in a surprise loss--or victory, depending on how you look at it--EA was beaten by telecommunications giant Time Warner Cable, ending the video game company's two year streak.

Losing by a margin of less than 2.5%, EA was defeated despite allegations of rushing the release of Titanfall--which then saw repeated delays--and the rocky launch of Battlefield 4 that led to a class-action lawsuit against the company. However, EA's loss may not be the result of an improvement in business practices on their part so much as their position against competition favorite Time Warner Cable, who recently merged with Comcast, another corporation with a dubious track record.

Regardless, EA's public relations staff are no doubt breathing a sigh of relief with the loss of one of the company's more dubious honors.
