Eterspire’s Newest Devlog Is Out, and It Talks About Fishing Rework and Guilds!
Stonehollow Workshop, the team behind the free-to-play MMORPG Eterspire, released their latest dev blog post. In it, they talk about everything that happened in Q1 2026, as well as what they're working on: the fishing rework and guilds!
Aside from the new content that has been added throughout the last few months, such as the Easter and PvP events, the wiki has also been redesigned. Moreover, the team has grown, and they had to change offices! In total, Stonehollow Workshop has 16 people in it, which has grown from the original three back in 2024.
Unfortunately, it hasn't been all good news. At the beginning of the year, Eterspire was giving the team losses in January and February, which hadn't happened to them in a while. Due to this, they took a step back to reassess their priorities, which ended in delays to some features and changes to the core experience and in-game store.

Due to the new player acquisition going dangerously low and players leaving the game too soon (as soon as talking to Arami at the Adventurer's Guild for the first time), the priority was on changing the experience for newcomers. To remedy this, they made many improvements to gameplay — such as adding Enraged Mobs and bettering the targeting system — as well as enhancing how well Eterspire runs.
Another topic that the devlog touches on is the monetisation of the game, which is a tricky and sensitive one. The dev team mentions that they have one very clear boundary: to not "enshittify" Eterspire or make it feel like a mobile title.
This particular section offers important insight into what goes into developing a title, such as why monthly subscriptions are a common choice and how Google pressures developers.
“I would rather have a single subscription, maybe $12.99 or $14.99 or something like that (regionalised) per month, and just sell that to players. That’d be a godsend, because subscriptions allow devs to focus all their energy on making the best game possible, instead of requiring divided attention between working on a cash shop and working on the game.”

Next in the blog, Stonehollow Workshop goes over the fishing rework and guilds. The previous sections of their focus on player retention and monetisation tie into this. While the features won't be available before May, they mention the team is working hard, so maybe they will be available sometime in May.
In this section, the blog showcases some concept ideas, like for the mechanics and cosmetics, as well as how the features will work. This, of course, means what players can expect and why they've been hard to introduce.
Lastly, the closing words touch on the upcoming Q2 2026 roadmap and the near future of Eterspire!
We highly recommend checking it out for all the finer details, if you'd like more than just an overview.
