Everything You Need to Know About the Tavern Keeper Early Access Launch

Greenheart Games is back at it again with another hit game: Tavern Keeper. This game is what the team is calling their "love letter to management sim games", and its Overwhelmingly Positive reception just a few days after its 3rd of November launch seems to indicate enthusiasm from the community.

It was released on Early Access, but we already know a fair bit about the game! Here's everything you need to know about the Early Access launch.

Why is Tavern Keeper in Early Access?

Greenheart Games is no stranger to the videogame industry — having worked on Game Dev Tycoon — so the team is not comprised of newcomers. However, their first game benefited greatly from player feedback, and they're hoping to shape it alongside what the community has to say.

Early Access also helps late-game content to have similar levels of polish to the original title, without having to worry about release windows or budget constraints. This is especially true for companies that don't have a steady source of revenue.

How Long Will the Tavern Keeper Early Access Last?

There isn't an actual date aside orcloser release window for the Early Access period duration. Greenheart Games states that it should last for about a year, but it could change based on player feedback.

One thing to note is that the roadmap shows one major content update every quarter starting from Q1 2026, and with four major content updates before Version 1.0, it could very well see a launch past 2027.This is purely speculative on our end, but judging by timeframes and the likelihood of development creep (with Early Access players offering feedback and new content ideas), it's not an impossible timeframe.

How Will the Release Version Differ from the Early Access?

We know a lot about what's coming to the game throughout the Early Access period, and that's before the reveals for redacted pieces of information. There are four major content updates planned in Q1 2026, Q2 2026, and three TBA updates:

  • A New Hue (Q1 2026)
  • Delving With Dwarves (Q2 2026)
  • Strut Your Staff (TBA)
  • Elf Help (TBA)
  • V1.0 Release (TBA)

These come with more levels (of which we know there are three campaign and freeplay levels), robust systems, and better customisation. They also include a lot of redacted and unannounced features that we're not aware of currently, so it'll be a much larger title post-launch.

Will Tavern Keeper Be Priced Differently at Launch?

Yes! While there are no plans to increase the base price during the Early Access, the pricing might be increased for the launch. This means that the price should remain stable until the announcement of a Version 1.0 (which we stated previously might be about a year, or more, in the future).

Currently, as a special bonus, players who purchase Tavern Keeper during this period will get the Supporter Pack DLC for free, which includes the Digital Original Soundtrack and the In-game Developer Commentary that will come out in the future.

How Will the Community Be Involved in the Development Process?

Tavern Keeper will be keeping players' opinions in mind whenever creating new features, and to offer your feedback, you can press F3 during the gameplay to send a message. The other channels to do this would be through the Steam Forums or the team's official Discord channel!

If you're interested in checking out Tavern Keeper, you can pick it up on Windows PC via Steam for £23.99!
