Explore and Build in Thatcher's Britain with Landlord's Super - Coming to Early Access

For all the games set in far-off fantasy lands, sci-fi dystopias and glamorous locales of all shapes and sizes, one of the most intriguing game announcements of recent months has been decidedly mundane in setting. Landlord's Super is an open world construction game/landlord simulator set in a loving recreation of 80s Britain. Announced last summer, the game will be launching 30th April on Steam Early Access. Take a look at the recently released launch trailer above.

Thatcher's Britain was a bleak time for many, including Landlord's Super's protagonist. With mines closing, industries on the edge of collapse and unemployment through the roof, it's up to the player to don their construction hat and build themselves—and their neighbours—a new roof. Construct houses by ordering supplies, mixing cement, erecting scaffolding and putting it all together—brick-by-brick. Once built, regular working-class folk will move in and present the player with a whole suite of concerns and issues which, as landlord, they'll have to quickly and effectively address.

It's not all about building. As Greg Pryjmachuk, Developer MinskWorks' founder states: "Landlord’s Super is about a Britain that’s dear to me”. This is reflected in the quirky characters, odd jobs, seasonal events, grey weather and—of course—pubs that makes up the experience of a player as they explore the open world recreation of Britain.

MinskWorks, also known for car maintenance simulator Jalopy, understand how a sense of sincerity can do more for a compelling game experience than any number of lofty, high-minded features, settings and concepts. Landlord's Super may not appeal to all, but I'm willing to bet that many players out there will find themselves uniquely touched by the distinct world it recreates.

Landlord's Super launches on Steam Early Access 30th April for £15.49.
