First Major Update for Racecraft

First Major Update for Racecraft

What do you get when you cross a procedurally generated sandbox game and a racer? Racecraft, that's what. The racer is a new spin on the genre, with procedural generation ensuring that you will seldom race on the same track twice. There's a highly technical in-depth mechanical element to the game too, so if you're one of those people that loved tweaking and getting the best out of your car in Gran Turismo, then you're sure to love this game too.

The game is currently in alpha and available via Steam Early Access for £14.99. The version at the time of writing is 0.2.3 but this will be increased to 0.3 this coming Friday the 8th April, when the largest update yet comes to the game and brings with it a whole bunch of new features.

There will be weekly "hotlap" events where one specially generated track will be opened to everyone for players to compete for top times. This will be fully ranked and eventually will pave the way for a full multiplayer mode later in the game's development. At the moment, you can feel that competition by racing against ghosts of the current top time.

The camera system has had an overhaul as well. Previously an in-cockpit view was all that was available. Whilst this is often the preference of driving simulator purists, it's not what all racing fans want so by popular demand, the "chase cam" has been added to the game. graphical issues prevented this from being available from the outset, but those waiting for it will be pleased to know that all systems are go for chase cam now.

other improvements see the UI getting a lick of paint, track saving being optimised and better controller support. The game now supports PS3 and PS4 contollers as well as the Steam Controller. Multiple controllers can now be used and calibrated, so those juggling a few devices will have less problems now.
