Freezing Roguelike Deckbuilder, FrostBound Is Now Available on Steam

Indie developer Lyra Studio have announced their latest roguelike deck-building tower defence title, FrostBound, is now available for purchase on PC via Steam.

FrostBound is designed to capture intense fantasy battles inspired by fights in epics like Game of Thrones and challenge the strategy and resourcefulness of players as waves of forces hell-bent on destruction are defeated by the allocation of buildings, reinforcements, and other protections for their fortress.

The gameplay is split up into nine select difficulties after the tutorial, escalating the power and ability of wave attacks while rewarding the player after every successful fight with unique buffs and greater loot, including new skill cards to use in the future.

The five-card combat system, which is made up of Attack, Defence, Skill, Structure, and Elite cards, is spread across four playable factions, which gives the player the freedom of choice regarding their playstyle, with curse cards which add high risk and reward to each battle when played.

“Attack” targets enemies with buffs and damage boosts; “Defence” summons troops; “Skill” provides game-changing effects when used; “Structure” offers persistent battlefield and resource advantages; and “Elite” upgrades the player’s chosen leader in battle.

Frostbound has several features, like fortification events where the player builds defences and playing beacons for recruiting epic and elite cards, as well as game modes and other random challenges for both fans of roguelikes and board games.

With over 500 cards to unlock, players will experience a different type of game with each run as well as the ability to work with the four factions, expanding on the diversity of gameplay on offer.
