Generation Exile Prepares to Exit Early Access to Join Steam Event

Sonderlust Studios released Generation Exile in Steam Early Access on the 4th of November 2025. This city-building colony sim title has players building up their city within humanity's first and final generation ship, struggling to keep the vessel afloat, all the while managing troubles within.

Having left a ruined Earth behind, the generation ship is facing issues, and players will need to adapt to their society's needs in the layout. Build cities, manage limited resources, and try to secure humanity's future among the stars.

The title has had a short development cycle from its Early Access period, though the Early Access section on Steam claimed anywhere from six months to a year of early development, placing Generation Exile on schedule for launch. The game will release on the 17th of April, as Sonderlust Studios seeks to partake in the fifth annual Earth Appreciation Festival taking place on Steam, raising money for conservation work.

Sonderlust Studios founder Nels Anderson had this to say about the 1.0 launch of the game:

We could not be more grateful to every player who jumped aboard Generation Exile during Early Access. The collaboration and feedback were invaluable in getting the game ready for a full 1.0 launch, especially for a small team like ours. We're very excited to soon be delivering a complete version of Generation Exile and seeing what stories new players discover and create in their own journey to earn a better future for humanity.

If you're interested in the title, the 1.0 Release Date Announcement Trailer gives an in-depth look at the gameplay elements that players can expect. It's a lengthy glance at the harsh reality that players face as the generational ship's Caretaker, showing the beautiful graphics and strategic gameplay.

Check out the trailer embedded above; Generation Exile launches in 1.0 on the 17th of April 2026.
