French developer Lightshards presents Time Rift: Escape From Speedjail, a fast-paced puzzle-shooter with a toe-tapping 80s soundtrack, striking neon aesthetic and unique time-rewind mechanics. Being trapped in Speedjail isn't at all like being trapped in regular jail. Forget cells, bars and concrete floors: Speedjail is a neon-soaked, scrolling maze gauntlet filled with enemies, puzzles and deadly obstacles. Successfully traversing its 60 levels and earning your freedom will require perfect timing and mastery of its various challenges. Thankfully, you've got an ace up your sleeve, 3Li4, your ship's AI which lets you rewind time and recover from any deadly blunders.

Time Rift: Escape From Speedjail began as a student project that exploded in popularity as a free download on Gamejolt, receiving over 10,000 downloads. Simon Hembert (Creative Director at Lightshards) recalls how the prototype version of the game "just seemed to click with people" and how the objective with this full release was to "up the visuals and sounds, of course, but also keep them simple so both we and our players could really focus on its core". From the looks of it, Lightshards has succeeded with both literal and figurative flying colours.

With over 60 stages, a level editor and online leaderboards, there's enough to keep even the most dedicated Speedjail-bird happy.
