GRIME II Announces Upcoming Console Release in Trailer Ahead of Launch
Clover Bite and Akupara Games released GRIME back in the 2021, inviting players to take on the role of a black hole. Mutating its form to adapt to foes, players had to engage in soulslike combat with metroidvania elements, strongly inspired by the likes of Team Cherry'sHollow Knight.
The title was a success, as the team secured a Very Positive Steam rating with 4,273 reviews (at the time of writing). With 86% of these ratings being positive, it's a surprising feat for soulslike titles, which notoriously struggle with reviews from players who call them too difficult.
Now, Clover Bite is partnering up with Kwalee to bring the sequel, GRIME II. Releasing almost five years after the original, the team has been teasing the experience for nearly a year, ever since the launch of the first Dev Diary.
GRIME IIis set to launch on the 31st of March 2026, which means the release is only but a few weeks away. However, the latest trailer revealed the upcoming console launch, which will invite a wider audience to join in on the form-stealing gameplay.
The sequel will be launching on PC, but its recent console announcement also slates it for a PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S launch! You can check out the trailer embedded above to get a lengthy gameplay trailer!
