Guild Wars 2 Community Opens Up in Support of Mental Health Awareness

ArenaNet, developer of MMORPG Guild Wars 2, has launched its annual 'Friend/Ship' community spotlight campaign in support of Mental Health awareness. An official video (found above) released by ArenaNet shows numerous players and key figures of the Guild Wars 2 community opening up, and regular players are encouraged to share their own struggles and experiences with mental health too.

The importance of being candid about mental struggles and supporting those close to us is often forgotten; this campaign aims to start conversations and 'get the ball rolling in the right direction' for people who need it most.

A free t-shirt, available from 31st January - 2nd March within the in-game gem store, will be offered to all players to mark the occasion. An official hashtag, '#GW2Friendships' is being promoted for community members who want to spread the campaign and their stories via social media; an official website has also been created for this purpose.

Any player who shares their story via the '#GW2Friendships' tag will be eligble to enter a compeition to become a NPC in-game. For more information on this competition and the campaign as a whole, check out ArenaNet's official blog post.
