Hitman Intro Pack Being Removed from Digital Stores

Hitman Intro Pack Being Removed from Digital Stores

I/O Interactive, the team behind the Hitman franchise have been hit with hard times, with the team being downsized and their publisher Square Enix looking for a buyer, I/O Interactive are doing what they can to keep the content flowing in Hitman.

With the previous announcement of continued content to the game throughout June, the team have confirmed that there will be changes made to the digital store releases of Hitman. Within the next couple of weeks, the ‘Intro Pack’ and ‘Update Pack’ will be removed from the digital store and with that, you will be no longer be available to purchase either pack.

Now, this doesn’t mean those who already own either will lose out, you won’t lose your purchase, but it does mean that I/O Interactive has streamlined the purchase. The decision is to make the game simpler to purchase for new buyers. Once implemented, as a new player, your only option to get a copy of Hitman is by purchasing the ‘The Complete First Season'.

As for owners of the Intro Pack, once implemented, you’ll have the following choices, depending on what platform you purchased from. Here’s what is expected:

  • Steam owners: After the changes, Intro Pack owners will be able to purchase ‘The Complete First Season’ and only pay for the episodes that they do not already own. Essentially, Steam will detect which episodes you have already purchased and only charge you for the ones you do not own. Individual episodes will no longer be available for purchase.
  • Xbox One owners: After the changes, Intro Pack owners will be able to purchase ‘The Complete First Season’ at a reduced price. Essentially, the price of the ‘Intro Pack’ will be taken off the price of ‘The Complete First Season’ and you will pay the difference. Individual episodes will remain available for purchase.
  • PlayStation 4 owners: After the changes, Intro Pack owners will be able to purchase ‘The Complete First Season’ at the standard price. Individual episodes will remain available for purchase.

It’s clear that I/O Interactive want to get the complete Hitman experience in hands as many players as possible, so with their unfortunate turn of events, this is a smart move. I/O have also confirmed that this change will not affect those who purchased the disc release of Hitman or those who already own the ‘The Complete First Season’ and Upgrade Pack’.
